In the Diocese of Oakland, St. Raymond School is a Catholic elementary school which has been serving families for over 30 years. From the parish of St. Raymond and the greater tri-valley district, they have kids enrolled in preschool through eighth grade. They welcome a new Kindergarten class each year along with many new families in all grade levels. They are lucky to have parents at St. Raymond School who are active and interested.
The school is accredited until 2021 by the Western Catholic Educational Association and the Western Schools and Colleges Association. They are continuing to make their work the basis of the School Mission. Students continue to work towards fulfilling the student learning standards of St. Raymond College.
Administration, faculty, and employees promote learning dedicated to academic excellence and educating the entire child: spiritually, academically, socially, physically, and culturally. Via challenges, students are motivated to persevere, solve problems and pursue deeper knowledge. As part of their instructional program, the school offers a safe, secure atmosphere with support services and robust co-curricular activities.
In cooperation with parents, they serve as the child’s primary educators to cultivate confidence, a love of learning, and global citizenship. For the good of the Church and of the earth, students are taught to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to others.
The school began with kindergarten through grade four in portable structures and added one additional grade per year. The Class of 1991 was the first eighth grade graduation class. The extended care program, Kids Klub, was founded in 1992. In 1993, groundbreaking for the new school building took place. Classes (Gr. 1-4) were relocated to the completed parts of the new school building in 1994. The next year, kindergarten moved in. All the classrooms, a science-art laboratory, a music room, a computer lab, and a school office were completed by September 1996 and the building was completely occupied.
In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Gregory Peterson became the principal of St. Raymond School in the fall of 2020. He worked hard to maintain high levels of their virtual academic quality and inspired students. Through several joint events, he has improved their friendship with the parish.
