The School of Imagination and Happy Talkers, established in 2001, is dedicated to bringing out the exceptional in every child by offering creative early childhood education initiatives, cutting-edge prevention services, and a full-inclusion preschool that empowers children with special needs to succeed along with their typical peers, providing all children with the basis for learning and life success.
2001: Speech Pathologist and Educator Charlene Sigman turns her rented Pleasanton home into a childcare center for all kids, including those with autism and developmental delays. Happy Talkers have been born.
2003: Every week, 120 children filled her home as the news came out about the high quality and comprehensive education being provided. All the other rooms were used to serve the children as her family of four moved into the master bedroom.
2004–2011: Beginning of the search for a permanent home. Charlene and her husband Mitch started partnering with community and business leaders to create a state-of-the-art facility that serves the needs of all children while shuttling between borrowed space in churches, office buildings and preschools.
2008: The Mayor of the City of Dublin, Janet Lockhart, and the Sigmans started collaborating with Discovery Homes’ Albert Seeno III and his team. Together, they planned and developed a school to meet the requirements of all children of the School of Creativity and Happy Talkers.
2011: Grand Opening of the state-of-the-art campus in beautiful Dublin, CA, Schaefer Ranch.
2016-2017: The region’s first pre-school inclusion focused on the Early State Denver Model (ESDM), a Time magazine ‘Top 10 Medical Breakthrough’ for autism care, School of Imagination joins two-time Major League Baseball All-Star Stephen Vogt and celebrity friends to host the All-Star Profit School of Imagination, helping the organization to become a national model and grow to have an effect nearly.
2020 – School of Imagination unveiled state-of-the-art Virtual Nursery, Counseling, Tutoring, and Recovery plans in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing more than 300 children to continue accessing education and therapy services.
